This concert was curated by Michael Lytle as part of Spectrum's Acoustic Frontier Series. The idea behind this series is that amplification changes the sound “spectrum”, so to speak, of acoustic instruments, accenting different overtones, adding qualities of its own and changing the way these instruments sound in the air, the natural and historic medium for them. Since the 1950”s and the development of the electric guitar, more and more the concerts have become amplified and the natural way sound blends in the air has become forgotten. We love playing with electric guitars and electronic music instruments and we are not opposed to amplification, it’s just that one wants to occasionally represent the air, hopefully clean and clear, as it has always been.

The most exciting thing here (besides the beautiful sonoric quality of the instruments) is that the quality of the Improvisation is superb. This music, especially Jungle and Silver Dusk are,well - we challenge you to find any Composed piece of music that is any better! It is past time for Improvised players to stand up and cheer their art! Fine quality improvised music will always trump composed music. You just can't write this stuff.
