MICHAEL LYTLE (aka elewhale), MA, University of Iowa, has been a New Music Improviser since 1968. He has performed with William Parsons, Karl Berger, George Cartwright, Garette List, David Moss, John Zorn, Nick Didkovsky, Hans Burgener, Martin Schutz, Gerry Hemingway, Mark Dresser, Eyal Maoz, Mari Kimura, Robert Dick, Denman Maroney, Kathleen Supove, Weasel Walter and has been involved in over 30 recordings since the 5* rated Iowa Ear Music of 1976. In solo, projects with Karl Berger and Hans Burgener, as a member of Nick Didkovsky's band "Dr. Nerve" and a co-founder with Didkovsky & Hemingway of "Swim This", he has played in festivals and venues all over the world. An early Electronic Music composer, Lytle invented the set of totally unique methods of clarinet family sonic modulation and performance, called the “most radical of his generation” by Joachim Berendt. www.elewhale.net

ROBERT BLACK tours the world creating unheard of music for the solo double bass. He collaborates with the most adventurous composers, musicians, dancers, artists, actors, and technophiles from all walks of life. He is a founding and current member of the Bang On A Can All Stars. His current project, Possessed, is a series of solo improvisatory outdoor performances in Utah’s rugged canyon/desert landscape which will be released in DVD and CD format on Cantaloupe Records in 2014. He has also recorded solo CD’s for Mode Records (The Complete Bass Music of Christian Wolff and The Bass Music of Giacinto Scelsi), New World Records (Modern American Bass), O.O. Discs (State of the Bass), and his All Stars recordings on Cantaloupe Records. Robert teaches at the Hartt School/University of Hartford, the Manhattan School of Music, and the Festival Eleazar de Carvalho in Brazil. www.robertblack.org

STEPHANIE GRIFFIN, violist, praised by the New York Times for her “fiery, full-throttle performance” and described as “enthralling” by the Los Angeles Times is an active classical, contemporary and avant-jazz performer. She plays regularly as a soloist and with the Momenta Quartet, Continuum, and the Argento Chamber Ensemble. As an improviser, she was a recent fellow at Music Omi, is a member of Hans Tammen’s Third Eye, Adam Rudolph’s Go and the Brooklyn Infinity Orchestras. She is the principal violist of the Princeton Symphony, teaches viola at Brooklyn and Hunter Colleges and holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the Juilliard School. www.stephaniegriffinviola.com
